“Avanzando Juntas” (Advancing Together) Network
The project “Strengthening educational leadership skills to improve the resilience of kindergarten and nursery schools, SLEP Gabriela Mistral” is a SUMMA initiative in collaboration with the Local Public Education Service (SLEP) Gabriela Mistral that seeks to strengthen leadership skills, collaborative work and networking of directors at these educational establishments.

What is it?
“Strengthening educational leadership skills to improve the resilience of kindergarten and nursery schools, SLEP Gabriela Mistral.”
“Avanzando Juntas” (Advancing Together) network applies the Science of Improvement approach under a Networked Improvement Community model. Early Childhood Education leaders support professionals and the research team (from SUMMA) work in active collaboration to address common issues and challenges in their professional practice.
This project is part of the TPD@Scale Coalition for the Global South initiative and integrates partners from the Open University (UK); FIT-ED (Philippines); Worldreader (Kenya and Uganda) and is sponsored by the International Development Research Centre – IDRC (Canada).

Project objectives

To deepen the understanding of how a scientific approach to improvement can strengthen the leadership of Kindergarten Education directors.

To develop leadership skills for evidence-based decision making and problem solving that lead to improvement.

To inform of educational policies and practices on strengthening leadership using a scientific approach to improvement.
Impact on society
Development of teaching meetings and theoretical-practical workshops for collaborative, critical and reflective work.
Application of a scientific approach to improvement as a working methodology for the “Avanzando Juntas” (Advancing Together) network.
Mobilization of the “Avanzando Juntas” (Advancing Together) community into a professional learning and support network.
