Throughout the years, SUMMA has developed cutting-edge research and innovation aimed at supporting decision-making, based on principles of social justice, and informed by rigorous evidence.<\/p>\n

Within the research area,\u00a0SUMMA has focused on various issues related to, among others: educational justice, education financing systems, inclusion of excluded school populations (students from ethnic minorities, prisoners, LGTBI+, migrants, students with disabilities, students in rural areas, among others), responses to COVID, effective teaching practices, teacher professional development policies, social mobility,\u00a0 national eco-systems of innovation and post-pandemic learning recovery.<\/span><\/div>\n

\nMost of the research is carried out collaboratively, between SUMMA researchers and researchers from international organizations, ministries, universities, and research centres of regional and global prestige. <\/span>Some of these publications include orientation guides for the implementation of effective pedagogical practices in the classroom and in schools.<\/div>\n

After the pandemic, learning recovery has become one of the biggest educational concerns in Latin America and the Caribbean. For example, within PRISA (Programme for Integral and Socioemotional Learning Recovery),<\/a> an initiative jointly promoted by SUMMA and the Ministry of Education of Panama, SUMMA has developed several documents including pedagogical guidelines, addressing the need of teachers to have timely support to face the challenges of returning to classes.<\/div>\n
