It was an insurmountable obstacle to sustaining educational continuity during the pandemic,\u201d Fernando said. And he mentioned as the main conclusions of the study the fragmented, incidental and <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">experimental use of ICTs, and the lack of attention to the most vulnerable groups.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Next, the director of SUMMA Javier Gonz\u00e1lez, spoke about the lessons and challenges that the pandemic left for education in Latin America and the Caribbean, based on the results that the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/summaedu.org\/en\/featured-initiatives\/the-teachers-voice\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">regional study &#8220;The Teachers&#8217; Voice&#8221;<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, carried out by SUMMA-KIX LAC and OECS, in collaboration with the Ministries of Education of 21 countries in the region and in which 200,000 teachers participated.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-63355 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/summaedu.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/javier-summa-resultados.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"476\" height=\"268\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After launching the study with the regional results last year, Javier announced that this month, SUMMA will deliver the results of this study by country. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cLatin America was the region of the world hardest hit by the pandemic. And I think this is an important reflection of how little resilient our educational systems are, considering that pandemics are going to be more and more frequent,&#8221; he said. The study revealed, among other things, that during the pandemic \u201cthere was insufficient ministerial and local support and accompaniment for distance learning. 81% of the teachers indicated that they had received training for distance learning, but 46% declared that it was insufficient. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For her part, Mar\u00eda Jos\u00e9 Velasquez, UNICEF Education specialist, highlighted in her presentation the importance of developing evidence from a perspective that understands childhood and adolescence in all its diversity. \u201cThere are many layers and types of diversity that must be made visible and focus the construction of evidence from there. The population of children and adolescents in the region is very heterogeneous,\u201d he warned.
