{"id":85059,"date":"2024-10-04T15:38:59","date_gmt":"2024-10-04T18:38:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/summaedu.org\/?p=85059"},"modified":"2025-09-05T15:42:16","modified_gmt":"2025-09-05T19:42:16","slug":"summa-and-kix-lac-at-the-regional-symposium-and-policy-dialogue-on-education-transformation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/summaedu.org\/en\/news\/kix\/summa-and-kix-lac-at-the-regional-symposium-and-policy-dialogue-on-education-transformation\/","title":{"rendered":"SUMMA and KIX LAC at the Regional Symposium and Policy Dialogue on Education Transformation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Regional Symposium and Policy Dialogue on Transforming Education took place in the Cayman Islands from October 2 to 4, 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Organized by the\u00a0<b>Caribbean Development Bank (CDB)<\/b>\u00a0in collaboration with the\u00a0<b>Caribbean Community (CARICOM)<\/b>, the\u00a0<b>Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS)<\/b>,\u00a0<b>UNESCO<\/b>, and\u00a0<b>UNICEF<\/b>, this event brought together over 150 regional leaders, educators, and policymakers for thoughtful discussions, expert presentations, and collaborative sessions to address the most pressing challenges facing the Caribbean education sector.<\/p>\n<p><b>SUMMA Director Javier Gonz\u00e1lez\u00a0<\/b>and\u00a0<b>KIX LAC Director Ra\u00fal Chac\u00f3n<\/b>, were invited to participate in the discussions. On the second day of the meeting, Javier Gonz\u00e1lez spoke on \u201c21st Century Literacy in the Caribbean Context,\u201d and Ra\u00fal Chac\u00f3n moderated the panel \u201cLeveraging Educational Assessments and Evaluations to Improve Systems Performance.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-73900 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/old.summaedu.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/Captura-de-pantalla-2024-10-04-a-las-10.40.52-231x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"231\" height=\"300\" \/>Under the theme\u00a0<strong>\u201cUnderstanding, Leveraging, and Unlocking Our Full Potential\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0the symposium focused on transforming leadership, renewing teaching and learning methods, and expanding access to quality education. Key areas of focus are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Inclusive, equitable, safe and healthy schools.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Learning and skills for life, work and sustainable development.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Teachers and the teaching profession<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Learning and digital transformation<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Education financing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The agenda explored topics such as the decolonization of education, artificial intelligence in education, building a culture of social and emotional learning, and the role of education in creating healthier societies, among other pressing issues affecting the region\u2019s education systems.<\/p>\n<p>Regional leaders will use these discussions to develop the Agenda for Action, a consensus roadmap for educational transformation across the Caribbean.<\/p>\n<p>Find more information and recordings of the conference:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.caribank.org\/es\/node\/10863\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/www.caribank.org\/es\/node\/10863<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Regional Symposium and Policy Dialogue on Transforming Education took place in the Cayman Islands from October 2 to 4, 2024.
